Introduction
Hello! I've owned pekingese for over twenty years. Although my sister and I also have a pug, I'm enamoured by the pekingese's huge, confident and extremely loyal personality. I currently own a recently adopted a 7-year old female peke mix, Sophie, an
What is your pekingese's favorite food? favorite toy?

Hmm, Milo likes variety, so sometimes he likes Evangers, Fromm's, Merricks, or preferably rotisserie chicken from the supermarket. Sophie's a good little trooper, and less picky.

Does your pekingese have any health or behavior that maybe we could help improve?

Socialization. Recently I took Sophie to the Macy's Bark Fast to raise money for the adoption center, Animal Haven. She behaves very well BUT didn't like any dogs to approach her. And Milo is a little bit possessive with me.

What other pets do you have? How do they get along with your pekingese?

At home, we also have a 5-month old female pug. Milo accepted the pup into the pack within two weeks of bringing the puppy home. Sophie still snaps at the puppy. Then again, it appears Sophie came from a home where she was abused.

Please tell us about your pekingese, name, age, and a cute little story about what they do that makes them so adorable.

MILO: After losing my 13-year old peke Max to a brain tumor back in August 2000, I couldn't bear the loneliness of not having a little furry one at my feet so I bought Milo at a local pet shop in Flushing a month later. I call him my "little man" because he's so very protective of me. He makes me laugh when he hurries me to place his dog dish on the floor by snorting out loud and stepping his front paw on the floor. SOPHIE: I had been looking to adopt a little companion for Milo and myself (not for breeding, though!) and found her on the Animal Haven Soho website. It's been a slow process of gaining her trust in humans, but she's finally realizing the humans in her new home do not hit or harm her. Now, she greets me by literally bouncing up and down like a rabbit! I wonder if she's got some Pomeranian in her?
