Hello,
I am new to this site and im looking for some help. My husband and I recently purchased a pekingese puppy (5 months old). We were told he was housebroken and come to find out he had not been even introduced to the outdoors. We are working hard with him but are not have much luck. We are trying what our vet recommended and are crate training him. He sleeps through the nights sometimes but every other night he is up around 2am ready to go!!!! I was wondering if anyone might had any tips for me. thanks!! Jeni |

I have a pekingese puppy exactly the same age as yours. I would recommend taking your puppy out as soon as it gets done playing, wakes up from a nap, after it drinks a lot, and 10-15 minutes after it finishes a meal. These are the most common times a puppy will have to use the bathroom. Crate training is definately a great idea. Most dogs and puppies won't use the bathroom in their crate. You can also use potty pads in your home. Thats what I've been currently using for my puppy. They are scented to attract them. I didn't even have to train him. He just starting using them as soon as I bought them. They also absorb odors, so you're house won't stink. I'm using them since I live in Southern California. It can be over 100 in the summer and I don't want him to overheat outdoors. I hope this helps!! Good luck.

Yes you have to make sure to take your puppy outside to pee as much as possible. Its so hard to tell when they have to go. They are so small at that age and can only hold their bladders for like two hours! lol..I hope this helps, good luck with your new puppy!
